چکیده

Methods In Fig. 1, the low-power rf pulse (ω1)y and frequency offset ∆ω constitute an effective spin-locking field along the z′ axis of a tilted rotating frame, with an effective frequency 2 2 1 ( ) e ω ω ω = + ∆ and a tilt angle θ = arctan(ω1/∆ω) with respect to the normal Larmor rotating frame (θ = π/2 for an on-resonance spin-locking pulse without frequency offset) [1,2]. The magnetization aligned along the effective field ωe relaxes with a relaxation time constant during the locking period TSL. For iDQCs, the final observable transverse magnetization becomes [3]

Biologically aggressive regions within glioblastoma identified by spin-lock contrast T1 relaxation in the rotating frame (T1ρ) MRI

Spin-lattice relaxation in the rotating frame magnetic resonance imaging allows for the quantitative assessment of spin-lock contrast within tissues. We describe the utility of spin-lattice relaxation in the rotating frame metrics in characterizing glioblastoma biological heterogeneity. A 84-year-old man presented to our institution with a right frontal temporal mass. Prior tissue sampling from...

ANALYTICAL STUDY OF EFFECT OF BILAYER INORGANIC AND ORGANIC COATING AROUND THE IRON OXIDE NANOPARTICLES ON MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING CONTRAST

Background & Aims: In recent years, iron oxide nanoparticles have been used in contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging for diagnosing a wide range of diseases. In order to provide biocompatibility and prevent the toxicity of the nanoparticles, using organic or inorganic coating around these nanoparticles is important for their application. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect...

Contrast Enhancements in MRI and fMRI by Sensitivity-Improved Detection of Intermolecular Zero- and Double-Quantum Coherences

Introduction In liquids, intermolecular multiple-quantum coherences (iMQC) originate from the distant dipolar fields that are generally ignored in conventional framework of magnetic resonance [1-3]. It has been shown that MR images based on detection of iMQC (e.g., zeroquantum iZQC and double-quantum iDQC) give tumor enhancement in rat brains and novel contrast in human brain imaging (including...

Combined off-resonance imaging and T2 relaxation in the rotating frame for positive contrast MR imaging of infection in a murine burn model.

PURPOSE To develop novel magnetic resonance (MR) imaging methods to monitor accumulation of macrophages in inflammation and infection. Positive-contrast MR imaging provides an alternative to negative-contrast MRI, exploiting the chemical shift induced by ultra-small superparamagnetic iron-oxide (USPIO) nanoparticles to nearby water molecules. We introduce a novel combination of off-resonance (O...

T1ρ imaging: Techniques and Basis for Image Contrast

Introduction Nuclear spin relaxation plays a key role in imparting image contrast in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Traditionally, T1 (spin-lattice relaxation) and T2 (spin-spin relaxation) relaxation times and magnetization transfer (MT) contrast are exploited to better visualize a given tissue in a specific pathology. In recent years, T1ρ (spin-lattice relaxation in the rotating frame) is ...
